COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KERICHO DRAFT ANNUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR FINANCIAL YEAR 2024-2025. AUGUST, 2023.

Kericho County is cosmopolitan and largely inhabited by Kipsigis sub-tribe of the Kalenjin tribal group. Other notable tribes include Kikuyus, Luos, Somalis, Indians, Luhyas and Kisiis who have enjoyed close relationship with the Kalenjins.  Culturally, the Kipsigis people believed in a god called Asis; the Supreme being that created the sky and the earth. Most of the residents of Kericho County are Christians, although there is a significant population of Muslims and Hindus and has its he adquarters at Kericho town and endowed with fertile soils and receives adequate rainfall throughout the year hence making it conducive for agricultural activities. The county produces both cash and food crops. Kericho county economy is driven mainly by agriculture with tea being the main cash and Coffee and sugarcane. Other crops include potatoes, maize, beans, pineapples, horticulture (tomatoes, vegetables). Tea is grown in the upper part of the county with Ainamoi, Bureti and Belgut being the main areas while coffee is grown in the lower belt of Kipkelion, Ainamoi, Soin and Roret. Read more

Budget Estimates FY 2023 - 2024 

The Financial Year 2023/2024 Budget Estimates has been prepared in accordance with Article 201 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Section 129 to 130 of The Public Finance Management (PFM) Act, 2012.The main reference documents used in the preparation of FY 2023/2024 budget include the Annual Development Plan (ADP) FY 2023/2024 and the latest 2023 County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP). The basis for allocation of resources among departments and county organs are the approved fiscal policies and financial objectives mentioned in the 2023 County Fiscal Strategy Paper and the development priorities contained in the approved County Annual Development Plan FY 2023/2024. SPECIFIC PROJECTS PER DEPARTMENT PER WARD

The section enumerates the specific projects  per department per ward  as generated through public foras and memorudams generated based on the need  of the public and justified by  technical department . These projects inform formulation of programmes, targets and indicators in the programme based CIDP 2023-2027.  These projects will inform subsequence ADP and Budgets based on priority and availability of funds. County Integrated Development Plan 2023-2027

The Constitution of Kenya 2010 obliges the County Government to prepare a development plan which guides decision making and resource allocation. Further the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 and County Government Act 2012 stipulate that County Governments shall prepare five year development plans. Download


ANNUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR FINANCIAL YEAR, 2023-2024.

The annual development plan 2023-2024 outlines policies, projects and programmes that will be implemented in the financial year in order to contribute towards Kericho County vision of providing high quality life to residents in a sustainable environment. The Annual Development Plan (ADP) is prepared annually to guide departments, non- governmental organizations, civil society organizations, private sectors and development partners on what the county government intends to do in each financial year. The plan forms the basis of preparing the budget for the same financial year. The fiscal responsibility principle as envisioned in the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 Section 107 (b) has been adhered to as recurrent expenditure represents 63% while development expenditure translates to 37% of the county total revenues. COUNTY DEBT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY 2019.

 The Public Finance Management Act 2012 section 123 (1),Provides that the County Treasury shall submit to the County Assembly a statement setting out   the Debt Management Strategy of the County Government over the medium term clearly showing its actual liability in respect of loans and its plan for   dealing with those liabilities. Click to download the main document

COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KERICHO - SECOND GENERATION COUNTY INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2018 -2022
This County Integrated Development Plan 2018-2022 is the second publication produced by the County Government of Kericho and its stakeholders. The Plan outlines policies, programs and projects to be implemented over the medium term period aimed at continuing to transform county residents. It builds on the achievements of the first County Integrated Development Plan 2013-2017. The policies, programs and projects were identified through a consultative process as required by the Constitution and are aligned to the Kenya Vision 2030, Third MTP including the “Big Four” national Government initiatives, SDGs, Africa Union agenda 2063 and regional and international cooperation frameworks.
