The Honourable Speaker, County Assembly of Kericho is a resident of Kericho County. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with more than 14 years post admission experience having been admitted to the Kenyan bar in the year 2004. He has vast knowledge and a wealth of experience in the area of Civil Litigation, Governance, Public Policy Administration, Policy, Research and Human Rights.
Prior to his election as speaker, Hon. Rono worked as a Senior Human Rights Officer at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) working on review of Policy and Legislation, Conducting Human Rights research and ensuring compliance with international and regional obligations by the state.
The Honourable Speaker holds a Bachelors degree in Laws from Moi University (2002), Executive Master of Public Administration from Moi University (2009), and a Master of Laws degree from the Centre for Human Rights at University of Pretoria (2015). Hon. Rono has attended various courses such as Strategic Leadership Development programme (SLDP), Monitoring and Evaluation, Legislative drafting among other several short courses.
He is an ardent golf player and also a supporter and a founder member of Zoo Football Club. He also has a passion of developing and supporting talents especially in Performing and Fine Arts.
Honourable Rono is committed to ensuring that the County Assembly of Kericho will help transform Kericho County through legislation, oversight and representation by adopting and applying the principles of Participation, Accountability, Non-discrimination, equality and equity, rule of law and sustainability in the Assembly’s legislative function.
